A Workshop on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Options for Ninh Binh and Da Nang is taking place in Hanoi today. Within the cooperation program, Health Sector Policy Support Program Phase II (HSPSP II), between EU and the Ministry of Health (MOH) to introduce PPP to the health sector in Vietnam, this one-day workshop is organized by the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Health) and the EU Health Facility (EU-HF) to support two local hospitals in Ninh Binh and Da Nang. Led by a renowned EU-HF economist and PPP specialist, Mariana Abrantes de Sousa, the workshop is designed to introduce proposed options, including giving an understanding on the PPP feasibility criteria and key success factors for pilot projects. Workshop participants, who are key leaders from Ninh Binh and Da Nang Provincial Health Services, as well as Ninh Binh and Da Nang hospitals, are able to be exposed to PPP models and options in the morning while individual hospitals will have a chance to discuss their own choice in the afternoon, under the technical support from EU-HF experts.
This workshop is part of a serial activity that EU-HF has been supporting the Ministry of Health in PPP introduction to the health sector in Vietnam since September 2016. This workshop is a result of multiple technical discussions on PPP at the central and provincial levels and will be followed by a study tour to Europe to learn experience in PPP by government officials, which is currently scheduled for the end of January 2018.
