    The EU Health Facility (EU-HF) in collaboration with Ministry of Health (MOH) conducted a one-day training workshop on basic health service package (BHSP) and guidelines to 39/2017/TT-BYT Circular implementation in Hai Phong today. Well attended by participants who work in both health and social insurance, and local authorities, the training workshop is designed to prepare local staff in using BHSP as a tool towards universal health insurance coverage.

    A Workshop on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Options for Ninh Binh and Da Nang is taking place in Hanoi today. Within the cooperation program, Health Sector Policy Support Program Phase II (HSPSP II), between EU and the Ministry of Health (MOH) to introduce PPP to the health sector in Vietnam, this one-day workshop is organized by the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Health) and the EU Health Facility (EU-HF) to support two local hospitals in Ninh Binh and Da Nang.

Workshop on Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) Imbalance Control in Vinh Phuc

On May 23-24, the EU Health Facility in cooperation with General Office for Population Family Planning organized workshop on Assessment of One-Year Implementation of the Project on Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) Imbalance Control Period 2016-2025 for Northern Provinces in Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province. The workshop was chaired by Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien and Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Head of the GOPFP. 
The GOPFP has launched the SRB Project back 2016 aiming to increase the sex at birth ratio towards preference to girl babies and reduce selection of pregnancies towards those where there will be a baby – boy. Unbalances sex at birth ratio if not changed will lead to the situation that in future more then 1,7 million Vietnamese boys will be having difficulties in finding a wife in Vietnam (currently for each every 7 boys only 5 girls are born). One of the major topics discussed during the workshop was how to overcome the problems with pre-natal selection of babies based on their future sex, practical solutions eg in work with Ministry of Education, faith organisations, provincial People’s Committees etc. At the workshop, experts from EU Health Facility and UNFPA shared their experiences from abroad and proposed practical solutions, aiming to develop and increase efficiency of SRB imbalance project in the near future.

    On 16th of May, the European Union Health Facility in cooperation with General Office for Population Family Planning and Ministry of Health organized workshop on Assessment of One-Year Implementation of the Project on Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) Imbalance Control Period 2016-2025 in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Head of the General Office for Population and Family Planning.

    The EU has been supporting the Ministry of Health since many years in improving and operationalizing the quality management system. Circular No. 19 on the Introduction of the Quality Indicators in Hospitals was developed and launched in 2013 with the support of the EU funded Health Sector Capacity Support Project. It is hoped that sufficient fundsfrom the SCR 2 budget support will be allocated for quality improvement at district and grassroots levels to improve to quality health services in communes and districts and also to overcome the overcrowding of higher level hospitals.
