In the coming months, the Handbook will be printed and made available for use in all health services in Vietnam.

Health Partnership Group discusses primary healthcare in Vietnam

The Health Partnership Group (HPG) met today in Hanoi in their 4th quarterly meeting of 2018 to discuss the strengthening of the primary healthcare in Vietnam through the renovation of the grassroots heathcare system in order to achieve the universal healthcare coverage and sustainable development goals on health. It is HPG quarterly meeting, partially supported through European Union-funded Health Sector Policy Support Programme Phase II. Chaired by Vice Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Son and co-chaired by Dr. Kidong Park, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Vietnam, the meeting has brought together 150 national and international participants as well as provincial representatives from 8 provinces, including Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Khanh Hoa, Long An, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Cao Bang and Lai Chau. During the meeting, participants shared the recent Global Conference on Primary Healthcare  in Astana (Kazakhstan) in October 2018 and lessons for Vietnam. The meeting discussed as well priorities and actions in order to achieve the universal healthcare coverage and sustainable development goals on health. During this meeting, participants discussed upcoming international cooperation programmes, projects and activities in order to effectively support the primary healthcare in Vietnam.

European Union has been providing substantial financial support to the health sector in Vietnam through the Health Sector Policy Support Programme since 2011.
