    The EU Health Facility (EU-HF) in collaboration with Ministry of Health (MOH) conducted a one-day training workshop on basic health service package (BHSP) and guidelines to 39/2017/TT-BYT Circular implementation in Hai Phong today. Well attended by participants who work in both health and social insurance, and local authorities, the training workshop is designed to prepare local staff in using BHSP as a tool towards universal health insurance coverage.

EU Ambassador visits Bach Mai and Vinmec hospitals

European Union Health Facility organized the visit of the Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, H.E. Ambassador Bruno Angelet, to Bach Mai and Vinmec Hospitals in Hanoi in the framework of the bilateral cooperation in health sector between the European Union and the Government of Vietnam. EU is assisting the Ministry of Health  in improving quality and safety in hospitals.
Dr Stefan Dornheim, German hospital quality management expert, currently working for EU Health Facility, provided during the visits insights and analysis of the current challenges in Vietnamese hospitals to be tackled in the coming years.
During the visits the Head of Delegation had a possibility to discuss with the hospital management teams such challenging issues as overcrowding in public hospitals at central level, growing demand in highly specialized services and challenges in assuring certain quality and safety standards, hospital infection and hygienic requirements as well as modern technology and knowledge transfer from private to public hospitals especially to provincial and district levels.
The European Union in Vietnam has allocated a conditional grant to the Government in amount of 100 million Euro for the period of three years (2015-2018) as a direct budget support to be used to decrease disparities between rich and poor by concentrating efforts in 10 poorest regions of Vietnam as well as to support the Ministry of Health of Vietnam in increasing quality of services at grass root and hospital levels. Besides that, part of the proceedings of this EU Grant are being used to subsidise the health insurance premiums for the near poor allowing higher coverage with health services to a vulnerable group of population.
