Addressing the Conference, Vice Minister and Ambassador highly appreciated the outcomes achieved by the health sector for the last 10 years, as well as the effectiveness and practicality of the Support Programme.

    Under the cooperative framework between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the European Union (EU), in 2018 the General Office of Population and Family Planning (GOPFP) with technical assistance from the EU Health Facility (EU-HF) has developed a draft manual guiding the implementation of extra-curriculum activities that aim at reducing imbalanced sex ratio at birth, raising awareness of gender and promoting gender equity among school children.

"Policy Dialogue" on VTV1

The "Policy Dialogue" broadcast on the National Television, Channel 1 (VTV1) on 14 Sep discussed on the improvement of service quality at hospitals in Vietnam.

Participating the talkshow were Vice Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien, Dr Nguyen Van Kinh, Director of Tropical Diseases Hospital and Dr Le Van Thanh, Manager of the Health Program at the EU Delegation in Vietnam. The EU is the largest grant donor to Vietnam's health sector and the on-going bilateral support program for health is the biggest health sector support program in the entire Asia with total EU contribution of 2.850 billion VND.

    On August 1, 2016 the EU-HF launched long awaited technical assistance assignment to support MoH in launching the Public Private Partnership in health sector. Mr. Derek Taylor (UK) along with the team of local experts Dr. Nguyen Thi Bach Yen (Public Health Expert), Mr. Pham Sy Chung (Legal expert) and Mr. Tran Duy Hung (Financial Investment Expert) will be working together with the Department of Planning and Finance as well as PPP unit of the Ministry of Planning and Investment during next 12 months.

    On 27th of June - 6th of August, the European Union Health Facility (EU-HF) organized the visits to Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Binh and Bac Ninh provinces to introduce the local counterparts from the Province Social Insurance (PSS), Department of Health (DoH) and health care facilities with the new capitation model, which will be based on age groups.
